Lew's work consists of unique images gathered locally and throughout the world. Not travel photography per-se, but rather it is his attempt to capture, with his camera, what he feels is the beauty and essence of the places, people and things he sees.
Lew Engle, a practicing Financial Planner for over thirty five years, has travelled extensively since the late seventies and has always carried a camera.
When he retired in 1999, he and his wife purchased a motor home. They spent the summer touring Alberta, British Columbia, the Yukon and Alaska. During this time he photographed everything that caught his "eye" (about 1500 images.)
Since then he has developed his "eye" by participative in several workshops at Santa Fe Photographic Workshops and Maine Photo Workshops in Rockport, Maine. Engle realized his talent after a conversation with a man who ran one of the Santa Fe workshops.
Lew and his wife, Bobbie, spend about 4 months a year in the motor home and have investigated every state in the continental U.S. but Delaware and all the provinces of Canada, and recently completed a trip to Mexico - always with his camera and tripod close by.
The Engles try to go places where they can find the kinds of things they look for. They try to get images they feel are unique and not the same as everyone else gets.
His images hang on the walls of homes in New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Texas, Florida and New Jersey.
