“This is No Drill” is a project which has taken 8 years of research, and is now a dream come true upon its final brush stroke, in time for the 50th ANNIVERSARY OF THE BOMBING OF PEARL HARBOR, DECEMBER 7, 1991.
Skip has always been a historian first, and an artist-storyteller with pictures, because it was easier for him to express himself with paint and brush than with a pencil and pen.
Each of these pictures is from a true story account by the veteran who was there during the particular action depicted in the picture, and signed by him after completion, though not the end, but the beginning of other stories still to be told of other campaigns.
Skip's other series of the tri-service, night fighters of World War II,
using each of their stories in pen and ink and his pictures in paint and brush.
